Paris, One Beautiful Moment at a Time!

There are cities you visit…and then there is Paris.

Paris has a way of making an ordinary walk feel like an occasion. You turn a corner and suddenly there’s a centuries-old monument in front of you. You stop for coffee, wander past a beautiful shop window, cross the Seine—and somehow an entire afternoon disappears.

That may be one of my favorite things about Paris: you don't always need an agenda.

Sometimes you simply need comfortable shoes, a little curiosity, and nowhere you absolutely have to be.

A Walk Along the Seine

There is something magical about seeing Paris from the banks of the Seine.

The bridges, the architecture, the boats moving slowly along the water…it gives you a completely different perspective of the city.

I love those moments when traveling when I can stop thinking about where we're going next and simply look around.

Travel tip: Leave some open time in your Paris itinerary for walking. Don't schedule every hour of every day. Some of your favorite travel memories may happen between the places you planned to visit.

Notre-Dame: Seeing History Come Back to Life

Notre-Dame is one of those landmarks that feels different when you're actually standing in front of it.

After the devastating fire in 2019 and years of restoration, seeing this magnificent cathedral standing proudly in the heart of Paris again makes the experience even more meaningful.

It's beautiful, historic and unmistakably Paris.

Take your time here. Walk around the Île de la Cité, enjoy the views along the Seine and allow yourself to imagine all the generations that have walked these same streets before you.

And Then…The Eiffel Tower

Can you really see the Eiffel Tower too many times?

I don't think so.

No matter how many photographs you've seen, there's still something exciting about catching that first glimpse of it through the city.

And naturally, you need the picture.

My advice? Don't just photograph it and move on. Find a spot where you can stop for a few minutes and actually enjoy the view.

Travel isn't only about collecting photographs.

It's about collecting moments.

A Little Parisian Window Shopping

Now we're talking.

Paris and fashion simply belong together.

You don't have to walk into a designer boutique and leave carrying shopping bags to enjoy Parisian style. Window shopping is an experience all by itself.

The displays. The architecture. The beautifully dressed Parisians walking past you. The little boutiques tucked between cafés.

I love looking for inspiration when I travel—colors, fabrics, accessories, how women put things together. Sometimes one little detail comes home with me as inspiration for something already hanging in my closet.

And yes…occasionally something actually comes home in the suitcase too.

Discovering Porte Saint-Denis

One of the joys of walking through Paris is unexpectedly finding something extraordinary.

The Porte Saint-Denis is a perfect example.

This impressive triumphal arch dates to the 17th century and once marked one of the entrances into Paris. Today, modern city life moves around it as if having a magnificent historic monument in the middle of the neighborhood is completely normal.

That's Paris.

History isn't tucked away somewhere.

You're walking right through it.

My Favorite Way to Experience Paris

Of course there are landmarks you shouldn't miss. See the Eiffel Tower. Visit Notre-Dame. Walk along the Seine.

But then? Wander.

Stop at the café that looks inviting.

Look in the shop window.

Take the little street you hadn't planned on taking.

Sit down with a glass of wine.

Watch Paris go by.

I've learned through traveling that sometimes we become so focused on seeing everything that we forget to experience where we are.

So build the itinerary—but leave room for Paris to surprise you.

Those unplanned moments might just become the ones you remember most.

But every once in a while…put the phone away and simply enjoy where you are.
